Being raised with a Private School Catholic Education, I was always taught about how God loves us and never really questioned it. Going through adolescence is a difficult time in figuring out who you are. The more you question if God is real when life gets difficult with temptations such as gluttony, lust, greed, pride, envy, wrath, sloth.

This work is based off of a skit on how we have those moments that we question God's existence, struggle back to the cross, and have a hard time keeping up with the light. For we anticipated that we knew everything we needed to know about our faith. On occasion, we would end up giving into temptations such as but not exclusive to only drinking and self-harm. Even when we did not give into these temptations physically we would let our guard down mentally.  When we make our break through and put our bad feelings aside we realize that the light of the cross was never that far to begin with.

Artist Statement:

  Chaos causes disruption.

   Disruption corrupts order.

Without order there is only rearrangement.

Inanimate objects start connecting to each other.

The lines and shapes of each object

do not need color

to compliment it.

For color begins blending

into the Black & White space.

Then reverts back to color.

Going back and forth.

Always in between.

Artist Statement:

Chaos is everything. Chaos is here and it is over there. Chaos is in everyone. It hides in the shadows and reveals itself in the light when it wants to be seen. It is in the mind and is in creativity. If one can think it, it is there.

These images reflect how we tend to add more than we see through our own eyes. We add a part of our imagination into it. As well it reveals how our way of thinking shifts as we feel more in tune with the way we are. We start tearing away the reality we grew up with and either add color or black & white into the mix. The more we change it the more it is harder for others to read except for yourself.
